Intercampus Program in Communicative Disorders

Applying for the MA degree in Speech Language Pathology

When to Apply

Your application for admission and transcripts should be submitted to the IPCD admission secretary no later than:

  • January 15 for Fall semester admission with notification on or about April 1.
  • October 1 for Spring semester admission with notification on or about December 1.

Applications received after these dates will be reviewed only if space is available. Occasionally, as resources permit, Speech students may be admitted in the Spring or Summer term. This application is designed for prospective students who intend to enroll for more than one session.

Although an undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is not required, applicants should have 12 hours of basic sciences and mathematics in addition to prerequisite courses within the major of speech-language pathology and audiology. These prerequisites should have been completed within the past ten years. Exceptions to this policy may be made when deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.

How Your Application Will Be Processed

The IPCD Admissions Committee will review your application for admission and make a recommendation to the Graduate School where the final processing occurs. Evaluation is based principally on academic, research and clinical achievement/potential, including evidence from extra-curricular activities. Partially complete applications may be considered, but complete applications will be given priority. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 1st for entry in Spring and by April 1st for entry in Fall. All materials submitted for admission become the property of the University and are not returnable or transferable. Decisions made by the committee are final.
