Biography —
Margarethe McDonald is an assistant professor in the Speech-Language-Hearing: Sciences and Disorders department. Before beginning at the University of Kansas in 2023, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020. Her research focuses on bilingual speech production and perception in children, with a focus on effects of exposure to accented speech on phonetic and phonological development. Her work aims to create tools to assess speech and language abilities in children who speak languages for which few or no normed assessments are available. She also directs the Speech in Little Bilinguals (SLBL) lab.
